Invercowie Town Houses, next to Georgian splendour in thriving seaside town.

Stonehaven is a picturesque seaside town lying almost as a gateway to the Howe of the Mearns and beautiful Angus farmland to the South. It is only 15 miles from Aberdeen, Oil Capital of Europe, and connected by excellent dual carriageway. No wonder perhaps that over half of Scape Homes luxury four bedroomed town houses have sold off plan prior to any superstructure going up.

The initial planning application process for this development was slow with concerns about the loss of large garden to Invercowie House an 18th Century Georgian Town House sitting off Barclay Street in Stonehaven. The previous owner of the house approached Andrew Jack, Director of Scape Homes, about the possibility of developing the upper garden as it was proving too large to maintain. Planning Permission was approved in 2007 for eight town houses in the upper garden of Invercowie House. Scape Homes have now sold the large Georgian House at the bottom of the site to an Aberdeen family who will move to Stonehaven and over time bring the house back to its former glory. We are pleased that this is the successful outcome for the old house as it ensures its place in Stonehaven as a Georgian architectural splendour.

Invercowie House was previously rather hidden away and unnoticed by many in the town. Scape Homes development of the upper town houses has opened up the view of the Georgian House from Barclay Street, and will re-landscape the grounds to a high standard using a well know north east tree specialist and garden designer. The following image shows the access to parking for the upper town houses from Barclay Street showing off the splendour of the Georgian House.

Alan Grant Grampian is the main contractor for this development and is making good progress with foundations and sub-structure for the eight town houses. In the near future the timber frame kits will be erected and it will be clear just how spectacular the sea views will be from each house. Stonehaven is a town of many interests and the Recreation Grounds is only a short walk from the development looking out to sea. Scape Homes is pleased to say that £12,000 of developer contributions from the build at Invercowie were negotiated by Andrew Jack to go directly for new tennis courts at the Recreation Grounds thereby supporting a flourishing local club. All too often there is no visible benefit to be had from large housing schemes, or people are simply not aware of where the money goes. Scape Homes prides itself in having a community focus and heart in its development activities. In purchasing a part of Invercowie development new residents will have helped to support the infrastructure of the growing town.
